At Pitmaston, we have designed an ambitious, progressive, imaginative and inspiring curriculum that builds carefully upon children’s prior learning. The foundations of this stem from the National Curriculum Programme of Study. Building from the Early Years Curriculum, Curriculum Leaders have crafted a personalised learning journey for each subject, that enhances the children’s key concepts and ideas, principles, fundamental operations and key knowledge. All leaders spend time working collaboratively with our Nursery and Reception staff to ensure they understand the roots of their subjects from the Foundation Stage upwards. This then ensures that their subjects are progressive, linking with prior learning, retrieving prior substantive knowledge and enabling the best strategies for children to learn. Where possible and relevant, topics incorporate our local area, celebrating the diversity of Worcester as well as the human and physical features of our city, county, country and the wider world.
