Meeting Parents
As a school we believe that children have a much greater chance of realising their potential when parents are fully aware of, and involved in their child’s education. One way to bring about this involvement is to ensure parents are regularly invited to come to school in order to discuss their child’s progress with their class teacher, and if appropriate Senior Leaders.
The pattern of meetings is as follows:
September: A ‘meet the teacher’ session for all parents to come into school and meet the teacher and find out how their child is settling down in their new class.
November: The first ‘Parents Evening’ when parents can book individual appointments to see their child’s class teacher and discuss their progress and achievements.
March: The second ‘Parents Evening’ when parents can book individual appointments to see their child’s class teacher and discuss their progress and achievements.
July: Annual written reports are sent to parents and they are invited to discuss these with individual class teachers before the end of the school academic year.
Share a Sessions: a termly share a session, three an academic year take place, inviting parents to join a learning session in their child’s classroom.
Class Assemblies: an annual assembly takes place, celebrating the curriculum and learning taking place in your child’s class, an opportunity for pupils’ to showcase their creative, theatrical, musical talents – not to be missed.
Parent workshops, SEND coffee mornings, parent working groups e.g. the Parent Inclusion Group are established as well as the Pitmaston PTA (see the link above).
Finally we have an ‘open-door’ policy should concerns emerge. In effect this means parents are welcome to contact the child’s class teacher at any time but preferably after school, appointments can be made through the school office in person, via telephone 01905 423710 or e-mail, office@pitmaston.worcs.sch.uk Similarly, we will contact parents should the school have a concern. The Headteacher and Senior Leaders are also available if needed and appointments can always be made via the same routes. If you need to access a copy of the Complaints Policy this can be accessed via the Policies tab or by clicking here
